October 25th

Dear Diary,
What is it like being the other half of a famous person or as we like to call them, celeb? What is it like being married to someone famous, what is it like dating someone famous?

Looking in from outside like I am doing, you seem to lose your identity the moment you decide to make your relationship/marriage to a celeb public. For some reason as long as you keep your relationship away from the public eye, you have an identity, but the moment you take it public, your identity seems to take a back seat. You suddenly become, Mr A's fiance, Mr B's girlfriend, Miss C's boyfriend, Mr/Miss D's spouse, you suddenly lose your identity.

Very recently the partner of a very a really popular on air personality/celeb, got to be part of some show, thats great news right, its always goodnews when we see people progressing. All the blogs that were up to date in Nigeria carried the news. But apart from the fact that all the bogs had the story in common, the other thing I noticed that they had in common was the way they referred to the young man in question. They all went, Miss C's beau, Miss C's fiance, Miss C's man get TV deal. It suddenly seemed like it wasn't about him, all I could see was was Miss C. This is just one of many cases that I have seen.

It can't be fun when all the credit for your hard work can't just be given to you, when you can't take the spotlight for something you have done, without having to share it with your more popular partner. Funny thing is, you may even be famous, just not as famous as you partner, but yet you keep getting tagged as, Mr A's beau goes to London, Miss B's beau goes to the beach.

But then again, what do I know, I am just here looking in from the edge.
